With numerous archaeological sites such as remains of monasteries, viharas and large stupas, Laamu Atoll is home to one of the largest collections of pre-Islamic Maldivian history and culture. Boasting numerous pristine dive sites with many different features like caves, steep drop-offs and swim-throughs, this atoll of 82 islands, known officially as Haddhunmathi Atoll, is very popular among scuba divers. Visitors can reach the atoll, which measures 48 kilometres in length and 35 kilometres in width, via scheduled flights operating between Ibrahim Nasir International Airport and Kahdhoo Domestic Airport located on the island of Kahdhoo.
